McLeod Lake, British Columbia

In 2017, a beetle infestation took over many parts of British Columbia, Canada. Including 3,700 hectares of reserve lands, the oldest trees, of more than 100 years, were hit hard by the infestation. Without human intervention, this land would not fully come back on its own. That’s why it is vital to act and reverse the current situation.

The project takes place on the ancestral territory reserve lands of the McLeod Lake Indian Band. The total land base of the ancestral territory is hundreds of thousands of hectares. The reserve land area is 20,000 hectares, and the site where the planting/reforestation occurs is 3,700 hectares.

Of the 3,700 hectares, Land Life helped restore 400 hectares in the summer of 2021.
